FREER SOUNDS NOVEMBER 2020

I have dug deep into the Freer Sounds archives for this show. Alongside classics from various genres, there’s a bunch of new things.

We kick off with a track from Maxine Funke & P Wits’ incredible Forest Photographer EP and stay in the countryside for a gorgeous ambient number by Leighton Craig. The first classic appears courtesy of a coveted album from the 1970s Swedish underground. J.McFarlane's Reality Guest pops up with one of my favourite tracks off their outstanding 2019 album. Then we have Moodymann at his jazziest segued into José González at his best. Next are a couple of new to me tracks from Buenos Aires’ El Club Audio Visual and Milan based Estonian, Xiu. We dip into the classics again with 4hero remixed by Bugz and then travel to NY for a modern classic from Joaquin Joe Claussell’s Sacred Rhythm empire. The Beloved take us into morning after territory, whilst Polish native Kuba Sojka drops a hypnotic reinterpretation of Cumbia. The home straight sees Ed Rush and Optical appear at their funkiest, Special Request turns Janet into an Electro princess and AMCA play us out with their most tender classic.
