A beautiful Celtic sounding song I wrote for Berklee Songwriting. I had this tune in mind for a few days, and it works very well as an instrumental (which I will also upload). Marlou wrote some great lyrics for it and sang, the rest of the instruments are played by me.

You are Here

In the distance I see
My love coming to me
I've been waiting so long
For this moment to come

All these years wondering: "When?"
Swiftly came to an end
I can feel you come close
Nothing else matters now

You are here

You've been calling my name
Through the wind and the rain
Every ray of the sun
Spoke of this hope divine

That your promise was true
Kept my heart close to you
Love grew stronger each day
Nothing else matters now

You are here
It involves a group of friends who pay Helen a visit, a Dior handbag that she gets as a gift, a cockroach and a group of children.
The music is quite an adventure in itself! Maybe you can tell in the music where the cockroach gets smashed with the handbag... :-) Very challenging to follow the emotion in the scenes and especially - not kill the joke!
<itunes:summary>Nice comedy cue I wrote for a deleted scene from the movie "Raising Helen". Very funny, but unfortunately I cannot post the picture with this... It involves a group of friends who pay Helen a visit, a Dior handbag that she gets as a gift, a cockroach and a group of children.

It is all about tension - rhythmic, harmonic, melodic - no more beautiful triads but lots of dissonant minor 2nds and tritones (augmented 4ths). Uneven meters all over the place - 11/8, 5/8, 7/8 and an occasional 4/4 and 6/8.
A cue like this is very complicated to make, it took me many hours to write and orchestrate this, but it is only just over 1 minute long...

Another assignment for Berklee Uni - this time a dramatic cue. The given movie fragment was about a girl that recalls her father and than remembers dramatic circumstances surrounding his death.
The first part is kind of Thomas Newman-ish, the middle part more like a very dramatic John Williams. Maybe a bit too dramatic for the actual scene in the movie, but I just wanted to give the huge melody, played in 3 octaves by the whole string section, a try. Hope you enjoy it. Hold on to your seats!

It is a 3-minute excerpt of a much longer piece I wrote years ago for a dance performance. Enjoy!

This is a piece I wrote for my Berklee Orchestration 2 studies.
My vision behind “Origins” was to compose a piece dealing with the Biblical story of creation, but than only the very beginning of it - Genesis 1:1-5
(Complete Jewish Bible):
“1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was unformed and void, darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit
of God hovered over the surface of the water. 3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and God
divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. So there was evening, and there was morning, one day.”

Part 1 deals with the empty chaos that was on the earth, before God created light and time. Than God’s voice speaks - “Agnus Dei” which means
“Lamb of God” - which points to the Son of God being the source, salvation and fulfillment of humankind and creation itself.
The speaking of God creates time and light, a big climax of part 1.

Part 2 starts with a big bassdrum in a heartbeat-like pattern, like the heartbeat of creation starting up, which develops into a homophonic chord pro-
gression, depicting unity, oneness, and peace after the choas of part 1. A soaring melody and a middleground movement in contrast to the dark
character of the chord progression depict the separation of light form darkness.
