"This CD suffused with mellow vibes ; heady ochre and lemon wallpaper sounds from 1974, splashings of pastoral prog, Jesus freaks and strummed Americana dreams of long evenings driving dusty highways. This could so easily have been compiled by a tanned and stubbled man in cheesecloth kaftan and sunglasses pacing softly in open-toed sandals from a hardwood floor into his Japanese Zen garden, tastefully concealed from the rest of his Californian garden by orange bushes and palm trees. Blinking in the morning sunshine he returns silently to the vast whitewashed interior to ponder which LP to pull from the wall full of faded spines. Deftly flicking past the obvious Jackson Browne’s and Joni’s, he’s selecting obscurer sounds picked from thrifts of his travels in his teens, twenties and thirties from Seattle through San Francisco and down the West Coast. pH lives in Northampton UK.
