Mont Crevelt 4am is the latest release from Flexagon's 7 Nocturnes East project. An album of early morning found sound from the north eastern Guernsey coast combined with ambient music. The concept is this: Choose a night to record, then hit the red button without too much thought and work with the audio captured no matter what. With minimal curation or editing of the sound in post production. Sometimes the music comes first, sometimes it's the found sound.

"I was recently out of hospital and under doctor's orders to take it easy, so had to be chaperoned by my long-suffering fiancée for this recording trip. When we headed up to Mont Crevelt, an unloved Fort and Loophole Tower above the entrance to St Sampson's harbour, it was a completely still night and there was a very low spring tide. This could easily have been the first time I captured 'nothing' for the album project. However, even though it was 4am there were two large diggers working in the harbour mouth. We were high above them but there was still lots of lovely industrial noise!"

The track opens with the unexpected sound of heavy machinery working early in the morning. Multiple drones slowly rise out of the mechanical cacophony before fracturing into a warm synthesiser pattern. To end a constantly shifting dual xylophone melody leads back into the captured ambient sound of Guernsey's industrial north at 4am.

The album 7 Nocturnes East will be released on 24.1.20. It will have an accompanying visual and video art exhibition featuring the work of seven artists at The Greenhouse, Guernsey Museum, Candie Gardens, Guernsey.
