When the global pandemic and lockdown resulted in Empresarios being isolated from each other, the bredren were physically separated for months. This challenging experience brought out the best and compelled the Empresarios into new creative arrangements. The result of this experience is the four-track Warriors EP, and a new relationship was made with Don Cash who recorded additional vocals and mixed the tracks at his Connected Records studio. Empresarios mainstay Francisco “Frankie 40” Rosado is featured on each track, along with additional vocalists who add their own flex to the song.

First up is a bilingual track with a lot of heart and soul. Joining Empresarios on this track is reggae legend, Desi Hyson, originally from the Caribbean Island of Dominica. Hyson brings decades of experience from touring and performing with The Wailers, Culture, Mojo Nya and See-I. Together, Hyson and the Empresarios create a captivating and soulful roots reggae anthem, Welcome to Puerto Rico. The lyrics brings us to the beach, reminding us of sunshine and tropical vibes, while putting La Isla del Encanto on center stage. Having a reggae legend like Hyson join the Borinqueños on this track is a dream come true for the group and their creativity shines through on this classic reggae track.

Remember when our love was new? Remember when we couldn't live without our love? On reggae love song Recuerdo, both Frankie 40 and Felix “Doble” Perez are in fine form, giving us that back-and-forth harmony that Empresarios are known for. With lyrics in both English and Spanish, and a feel-good roots reggae track underneath, this song is for the lovers out there. So, grab your girl, give her a hug, and let the music sway your hips to the bass line.

Introducing a brand-new talent, Empresarios are proud to release a debut track featuring JVMPY. The young Boricua from Miami brings the raw vitality and energy of his generation to the table. Smooth delivery over minimal beats and melodic guitars sets the mood on Dime, with Frankie 40 dropping some fresh verses. Blending rap, Latin trap and reggaeton influences is JVMPY's specialty, and the young Puerto Rican has a bright future ahead of him. His words are sincere, and with a catchy hook, Dime is one of those songs that will get stuck in your head all day long.

We are the Warriors. We will not give up. We will not surrender. Guerrero is the theme of this release, the Warriors EP. As we have all learned during this pandemic, life will often throw surprises and obstacles in your way. But we will not give up, we will survive, we will thrive. This is the Empresarios ethos, and on this track, we are happy to welcome back Felix “Doble” Perez, who is a Gulf War U.S. Marine Corps veteran and now also a cancer survivor. His story, bravery, and courage continues to inspire us all, as we soldier on in life together.

The Empresarios are ready to bring tropicaliente beats to the world again, after spending much of 2014 in the studio the group’s third album is complete. The Vibes continues to bring the warm Latin sounds that fans have come to expect from Empresarios but with new surprises. The Vibes includes collaborations from Miami based Colombian rapper Ephniko and DC-based salseros Orquesta Salsaley.

After the success of their previous album El Sonido Magico, it held the #1 spot on the CMJ World chart for 5 weeks with notable airplay on NPR, KEXP and KCRW, Empresarios brings The Vibes. It is a cohesive collection of tracks that incorporate the band’s varied influences, including salsa, house, reggae, dub and hip-hop. The Empresarios have retooled their approach and their signature tropicaliente sound has truly come of age in The Vibes.

“Encanto,” a love song to the island of Puerto Rico written by lead vocalists Frankie Rosado and Felix Perez, could be the next anthem for their cherished motherland. Tracks like “No Vamos A Parar” continues to showcase the vocals of Rosado and Perez.

Always ready to get people dancing, the Empresarios have several upbeat party tunes like “Morena”, “A Fuego Lento” and “Pa’ La Calle”. The album’s title track, “The Vibes” featuring vocals by Ephniko offers a distinctive reggae and hip-hop sound. The album is rounded out with “Rootsy Jam” and “Alegria”, two dubby, downtempo grooves complete with melodica throughout.

The group has been quietly busy in their recording studio, as well as touring in the United States while establishing themselves internationally in Latin America and continuing to cater to their hometown fan base in Washington, DC with a weekly presence on the ever popular U Street.

When recording The Vibes, the Empresarios turned to Paul Chaconas and John Bowen for production and Sonny Cheeba, the band’s DJ, provided dance floor references. The end result is a unique album with distinctive sounds made for a great time under the warm sun, just as if you were at an Empresarios concert.
