DPLR was founded in late 2008 by Niels Paul (also of "Garden Grows") originally as remix project of the short lived alt-rock band Deplore, whose lead singer can be heard on the debut "Crush My Bit". Initially Chiptune and Electroclash influenced, later pieces draw influences from various genres, such as Synth Pop, New Wave, Techno and House.
