Music and sounds of DMT

Any attempts to describe the DMT experience are fraught with dangers of either over simplification or swift flight to metaphor, since it is nearly impossible to describe with words alone the fantastic swirling gateway of soundscapes involved from beginning to end. DMT is the duo consisting of Dreadnaught & Michael Todd. The Dallas Observer describes Dreadnaught as “a crucial player in the Dallas DJ community, one of the cogs that keeps the wheel turning”. A classically trained life-long musician and veteran DJ, he has been a part of the DFW music community for 7 years and a key promoter pushing dance music events in numerous venues across the metroplex. He has a wide range of musical tastes, but a penchant for darker, driving tunes. As for Michael Todd, the observer writes “There are veteran DJs and then there are guys like Michael Todd. Todd has been a constant force in the Dallas DJ community for 26 years.” Michael has played at virtually every spot you can play in the DFW area between his many residencies and guest appearances. He has the ability to play any genre, in any setting, and on any equipment, but Michael is perhaps best known for pushing bouncy, funky, tunes that make a floor move. As a duo, DMT break through and genre boundaries and push a wide-reaching auditory experience to dance floors, making crowds move, shake, and get lost in music that is both powerful and unanticipated. No two DMT experiences are alike and no two people should expect similarity in their individual experiences. Mystery is an increasingly difficult thing to find in our genre finicky era with all to many sets that are predictable and consonant. The DMT experience is distinct in its expansive excursion through resonances and animated dives into tracks that are truly unique and create energy through contrast.
