Bacon Quest Tour - Seattle Stop Mix from DJBUTTBABY gettin' happy in the rave 2 tha renegade (2013) 320kbit/s

Originally I organized this mix just to play for fun, because I wasn't on the show or anything. It was another renegade but this time, we had actual people from outside of the northwest. The Bacon Quest Tour was happening which was a US tour that stopped in a bunch of places with Microphyst (Germany) who had 3 albums out that were decent, The Parliamentalist (UK), who had like 4 eps out, most on Off Me Nut Records (comedy breakcore/mashup shit with a political spin), and Santisima Virgen Maria (Spain) who had a couple tapes/digital releases out at the time. I had this ravecore mix put together and was like, "well I'm gonna take my laptop just in case, I have this mix and maybe I'd have an opportunity to play even if it is later" also on the bill was Spaz & Red Ruler (a local breakcore dude that ran Seattle Breakcore in like the late 2000s, pre-2010).

Real cool dude but he wound up showing up late (which may have just been miscommunication). I missed the opportunity to take nitrous with the out-of-towners before Spaz took them to their hotel, but we hit the old balloon slightly before the show and went down to play. I helped setup everything and by the time we were supposed to start Red Ruler hadn't showed up yet. So, I went on to open the event and as the "headliners" arrived, they were treated to a decent mix of 4/4 popmash intersticed with various breakcore tunes and some 80s disco thrown in. Mixes were good all around, but Santisima Virgen Maria in particular, even though nursing what was a wicked hangover (dude left after his set, which was right after mine), blew me away with his ableton fuckery. It was noisey, mashup in a way I hadn't really heard before...the closest being Foxdye at that first show (detailed in a previous mix post). That was the seed planted that turned me into a mashup/noise dude.

Microphyst played his typical dark dnb/breakcore type shit, the cops showed up at one point and he turned off his laptop, thinking we were gonna get shut down but they just told us to turn it down. The Parliamentalist went next and played his mashup-political infused breakcore set waving his Mister Fister sex toy around the whole time which was pretty funny in general. I think Red Ruler was next, and had some issues with audio output which cleared briefly what little floor we had, but eventually he got up and running and played a nice set of solid breakcore. Much less popmash then any of the previous sets. Met some interesting folks, in this little under-the-bridge renegade.

This set is very much 4/4, as that was HUGE in breakcore at this time. Hardtek was started to get more of a footing in the "scene" and I was on board, but in the next couple years, I grew very bored of it. I still get nostalgic about this show though, it was a fun night. Hope ya enjoy the set!
