Daniel Broadhurst – DJ / Producer

Daniel has been a DJ for the past 8 years delivering diverse styles of music across a host of venues throughout the North West of England. It started notably with an indie residency at Kico Club Bolton for 5 years (2007-2012), which was featured on BBC 6 music by Steve Lamacq in 2008, XFM by Clint Boon several times, and in other local publications including The Bolton News. After Kico, Daniel wanted to start playing and making House music which he had real passion for from the age of 18. Daniel started off by entering DJ Competitions which were hosted on Mixcloud, Soundcloud & Beatport. After a few attempts Daniel finally had some success and was named the winner of the Southern Fried Records DJ Competition, the prize was to be flown out to Ibiza and play at the infamous Ibiza Rocks Clubnight alongside Kissy Sell Out, Doorly & Mak & Pasteman. Another big success for Daniel was winning the Tosca “Looking” Remix Competition which was hosted by !K7 Records on Beatport, Daniel’s remix was later released on Beatport.

From 2012 Daniel has been plying his trade in Wigan as resident DJ at Indiependence Nightclub, whilst performing regular guest spots at Revolution, Lancaster and Bar Quaye, Leigh. Daniel finally managed to get involved with Genre Music DJ Agency where Daniel has become a weekly Resident DJ at The Alchemist, New York Street & Artisan Kitchen & Bar. Daniel has been able to start expressing his love for House, Disco, Funk, Soul & Electronic music at these venues.

Daniel has self-taught himself how to produce a range of music and is always learning new ways to create new and exciting music. Daniel also likes nothing more to take and old Disco, Funk or Soul record and Re-Edit it for the modern dance floors. Innovation, evolution and diversity are key aspects in his style and range, evident with a recent switch in music focus to House and Disco Music. Development of this skill has been measured alongside intensive research in the field with some good results. Daniel recently won a 30 minute mix competition hosted by label Southern Fried Records, which boasts the likes of Armand Van Helden, Fatboy Slim and Soulwax on its roster. This granted him a ticket to Ibiza to DJ at Doorly’s W.A.R. Ship Boat Party and DJ at the W.A.R! Ibiza Rocks Hotel Event that night.

New and Unique Production of Remixes and Edits are fast becoming a speciality for Daniel, who is also working towards producing his own music in future. He has just recently been announced as the Grand Prize winner of the Tosca “Looking” Remix Competition on Beatport, which will see his remix released on a special remix package by the !K7 Record Label.

Daniel is a devout music fan, spending vast amounts of time scouring the Internet for both new music and forgotten classics which jog the crowds memories and ignite the dancefloor atmosphere instead of just playing full sets of the latest hits. He developed his interest in House music around 10 years ago when Funky House was at its peak and since then has been listening to lots of Disco and Deep House.

He considers the biggest moment in his career so far to be winning a Cafe Mambo DJ Competition which won him the chance to play at one of the most iconic venues on the island of Ibiza! A place which most DJs can only dream of playing. Another stand out moment for Daniel is being asked to play at Y-Not? Festival in 2015 with Suck DJs partner John Leather. Together Daniel & John played the Friday & Saturday nights at the festival which was headline by Snoop Dogg, Basement Jaxx & Primal Scream. Daniel also co-headlined a small festival called “Howfenfest” in his home town of Westhoughton in 2008.
