Marvin Gaye is perhaps one of my personal favorite music artist of all times. Since I was a young boy playing my fathers record collection I was always fascinated with the sounds, tones and vocals which infused so much love, pain and conviction in his songs. In the 1970's he recorded two concept albums where he had complete creative control on the recordings. Both titles "What's Going On" & "Let's Get It On" would combine R&B, Blues and Orchestrated textures that were unlike anything ever recorded in that time.

Today Marvin's music has influenced so much of what we hear, this mix was created as a tribute to display the many combinations of soundscapes and melodies he has evoked from his artistry. I began the mix with a live classic ballad "Wholy Holy"... The finale features a remix I did, creating a dubbed version of "What's Going On" which highlights the instruments and a ghostly vocal, bringing Marvin home!

With so-much happening in our world today especially in the U.S., Civil unrest and a BLM Movement that has spread around the world, it's no-wonder that Marvin saw his pain of being a Black Man in America a threat . . . but a threat to a priviledged society that would still to this day demean and violate the very common human rights of an American!!!
