Brand new to Delta9 Recordings is the Blue EP from Mindless. After issuing on releases on 8Bawlaz Recordings and Melting Pot Records., his deep, rolling drum & bass sounds caught the ears of the Delta9 camp. The international focus of the music very much reflects the label – Delta9 represents not only Berlin, but also Bergamo, Italy. Their stock in trade is dark, minimalistic and techstep sounds, and they now bring you Blue, by Mindless.

Lost & Found immediately sets the tone for the EP, which a deep, resonating opening which introduces fizzing electronics and marauding, inescapable bass. Mindless then drops in some funky beats with added percussion levels, wrapping everything up in a sense of evil foreboding. Lost & Found tells many different stories, which will
you find?

The title track flips the script, with a more open introduction, which fluctuates between a moveable synth line and some layback beats. There’s plenty of mileage in this one, and DJs will drop it into a mix whenever they can. Warming bass underlines the work which Mindless has put into this one, watch as it blows up.

Recall cuts things in half, as Mindless slows down the beats and brings out the low end. You’ll feel as though you are burrowing through a tunnel, as claustrophobic atmospherics quietly assault you from all sides. Piercing lights of melody cut through the haze, but the main vibe is dark, dank and dirty. Essential.

Closer Waveguide rounds things out nicely, with a rolling tide of neuro-inspired feeling. The producer builds up the elements subtly, dropping in mini-breaks under the flow of the bass and the main drum lines. It’s obvious that effort, will and determination has gone into the Blue EP, so make sure you make it part of your life today
