Livewire is a DJ and producer with an enviable list of releases, on labels as diverse as Drum & Bass Arena, Smokin' Riddims, Regal Records, Climate and many more. His productions have been leant support from many of the world’s top DJs, including Adam F, John B, Friction, Jaydan, Mistanoize and London Elektricity, and his beats have been featured on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra. His unique take on the drum & bass sound now finds its way to Universal, and Sound Vibration, which features Hey!Zeus.

The A Side , Universal, is a beautiful, smooth journey, which takes you from the intensity of the intro, through rolling, shimmering breaks to a wonderland of summery vibes. Livewire is at his peak on a classic tune which recalls earlier triumphs as well as an optimistic future. Encompassing a whole world of sound, there’s warm bass notes pinning down some skittering beats and aggressive moves halfway through. Glimpses of the old skool come through in the low end, while the drums really are perfect. Eyes closed, arms up, this track will make you into a better person.

Sound Vibration, meanwhile, continues the vibe with some deep synths and slashing break loops. Livewire and Hey!Zeus take it further, with some serious humming basslines and rolling piano lines. This shows the other side to the producers’ sound, the not-to-be-messed-with, pure rinse out side. But there is still plenty of emotion on Sound Vibration, showing clearly the power of music in the right hands. Harking back to
pirate radio days, this is a perfect tribute to drum & bass music, everywhere, all the time.
