TINMAN ‘Eighteen Strings’
(Eighteen Year Anniversary Remixes)

Remixes by: Mazai & Fomin / Simon Sinfield / Terpsichord / Dave Remix / Adrian Rickards

BASE Music is proud to celebrate the Eighteen Year Anniversary of iconic 90s dance track ‘Eighteen Strings’ by Tinman. The original was a UK Top Ten hit in 1994 and it seems fitting to update this classic eighteen years later, with a range of remixes from some of dance music’s new breed.

Paul ‘Tinman’ Dakeyne was well known throughout the 90s as one of the UK’s top producers, with an amazing array of inventive productions for specialist label Disco Mix Club (DMC) and some incredible remix commissions for leading artists and record companies. His Tinman project used one of rock music’s most iconic guitar riffs, paired with a key vocal hook, to create a catchy pop record that ruled clubland amid the dance music frenzy of the mid-90s. The track exploded into the underground and was soon picked up by Pete Tong for general release. Soon after, dance floors around the world and the UK chart began to ‘Rock On!’.

This commemorative pack of remixes has been put together by Paul Dakeyne himself to mark the Eighteen Year Anniversary and to raise money for his chosen charity - St Luke’s Hospice, Essex, UK. In 2011, Paul used his social media channels and music magazine column to announce his intention to re-work his track and he called out globally for aspiring and established music producers to help him. After sifting through a huge pile of submissions, Paul is now able to present his selection, which includes his very own remix under pseudonym Terpsichord.

The package includes an up to the minute remix by Russian sensations Mazai & Fomin, who use modern house rhythms and clever manipulation of the original samples to rock the party! Hot shot producer Simon Sinfield delivers a slice of filtered tech house for pure club nirvana! Dave Remix throws down what can only be described as ‘Rock-Step’, aiming the alternative sound of the UK straight at the jugular! Adrian Rickards takes us old school with a faster paced trance journey - a bit retro, a bit right now! And finally, Tinman is re-incarnated, as original creator Paul Dakeyne re-visits his very own track under pseudonym Terpsichord. It’s good to have Dakeyne back and it’s an honour to bring this incredible release to the modern dance music community.

Here’s the most important bit! This is a charity release. All proceeds from the sales of all the tracks go to St Luke’s Hospice, Essex (Registered Charity No:289466). Your help with this project is invaluable in supporting the wonderful service that St Luke’s Hospice provides. Further information can be found via: stlukeshospice.com.
