Dangatye (Flame) real name Sipho Malida is a determined and passionate Xhosa Hip-hop artist, who grew up in the streets of Motherwell in the Nelson Mandela Bay. He is a hip-hop music writer and composer who have released successful records and today he is admired in various places around South Africa. He had an opportunity to show-case his talent at the “Shell Road to Fame” talent show in 1997 and later on together with his friends formed a group called Izazi (wise men) and that was the beginning of his music career.

He released two singles in 2004, first single “Mic Prophecy” received lots of airplay on Umhlobo Wenene FM and the second single “Lencwadi” was number four for two weeks on Metro FM Open MicSet. He released a single called “Nobathembu” in 2005 that sold 440 copies in the first four months and later in the year sold over 700 copies in the Nelson
Mandela Bay alone. A year 2005 was a very good year for Dangatye, he held a number one spot on the Voice of Hip Hop at KQFM and also successfully released his first album called “Nguban’ Igama”.

The song “Emhlotshazana” from the album was the song of the week at YFM and “Black Beauty” a single came out after the album was voted song of the day on Harambe at
YFM. Dangatye was the only rapper to performe at the first Miss Nelson Mandela Metro University in 2005.

Dangatye’s new single “Ngaske Siyive” featuring ZaneSA has been submitted to Umhlobo Wenene FM, KQFM, King Fisher FM, Tru FM and at Forthare FM for play listing. This sensational “Xhosa Rapper” is determined to put Nelson Mandela Bay on the Hip Hop music map countrywide and champion over industries giants by taking the way hip hop is done in the industry to the next level. Dangatye is a hard worker and learning more about music business, he is ready to continue influencing other artists in the Eastern Cape. He is releasing his new EP in the first week of December. You can call this a come back…

Malaika, Ntando, Unathi, H2O and international stars such as Fat Boy Slim in 2010 at St Georges Stadium, Buster Rhymes and Kenny Lattimore.
