Young Dutch artist Warmonger O (aka Xalpheon) brings us nothing else but the most outrageously experimental and radical release ever on Dream Machine: Not less than five and a half hours of sound, slowly moving (if at all), composed of noisy drones and scarce piano play. Conceptual, physical, mental, this is for the seekers, a tour of a traumatized person’s mind (who happens to develop a love for piano and found sounds). Things escalate in five movements of 64 minutes each, with four short linking pieces, and the struggle against helplessness boils down to the ultimate immersion, a point of complete inwardness, a mind finally severed from any kind of human contact, which is perceived as torturous. In the end, the piano plays again… Surely hard to swallow, this is anti-entertainment, sound as a vehicle, or possibly as a substitute of therapy. Do you dare? Lights out!

Lights out!

The artist aka DJ Minddestructor drops his debut under the Demolior moniker – and since this is Latin for “I demolish”, this is obviously what he’s trying to do, as the beat counter says “150+” - or just “f*** you”, and all five tracks explore quite different ideas: On “Chaotic” distortion is massive, and out of the noise creeps a melody line, right into your brain; “Capacity” is hardcore with a sludge rock bass line; “Clockerz” perforates the cheese and “Valyrian” is not afraid of the grand melody making your body hair stand up. The title track finally convinces with an eerily perfect combination of industrial-flavoured beats and haunting female vocals - singing of despair!

Lights out!

The title track finally convinces with an eerily perfect combination of industrial-flavoured beats and haunting female vocals - singing of despair!
