Well I can honestly say that I enjoyed putting this selection together so much, thank you guys for asking me…although I have to say, it gave me a few problems to start with, I had SO many tracks that I wanted to include that the biggest task really was trying to whittle it down into some sort of cohesive hour or so…which I’m not sure I’ve achieved…I suppose I’ll find out from you lot though!!
Seriously though, every piece of music on here has a special memory, reminds me of a particular time, a particular person or situation. I would say I’ve been influenced by these very strongly indeed.

Excerpt from Close Encounters of the Third Kind: I had to start with this as the film had a profound affect on me as a kid. It had everything…UFO’s, Aliens and Synths!
Jean Michel Jarre – Equinox 1: First album I ever bought, this track is all about the textures and hints at the space theme, which I’m still quite geeky about and obsessed with!
Tubeway Army – Are Friends Electric: Probably my all time favourite track. Unbeatable.
Chemical Brothers – Chico’s Groove: Huge admiration for the Chemical Brothers and all they have done for electronic music, this track reminds me a lot of a mad house I lived in with a bunch of very dear friends and fellow band members!
Penguin Cafe Orchestra – Music for a found Harmonium: This was on a Cafe Del Mar Album that we used to play on repeat, Smokebelch was on the same album. Love the quirkiness of this.
Talk Talk – Life’s What You Make It: Majestic, monumental, inspiring…Pure love for this song.
Ian Dury and the Blockheads – Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick: Truly believe that Ian Dury was a musical genius and there’s just so much to appreciate in this track…the lyrics, the piano…but most of all on this track, listen to the bass sing in the verses…sublime!
Talking Heads – Slippery People: This track is just so fucking cool, Talking Heads at their best!
Tom Browne – Funkin For Jamaica: All about the bassline..
Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock – It takes Two: As soon as you hear that sample it makes you want to dance..!
Leftfield – Release The Pressure; Leftism is one of those albums that just doesn’t date, was lucky enough to see Leftfield live on a recent tour…the bass they delivered was earth shattering!
LCD Soundsystem – Someone Great: I love pretty much everything that LCD have done, this track is probably my favourite though…the main sequence is so infectious.
St.Etienne – People Get Real: I rediscovered this recently and remembered hearing it years ago and falling in love with it…
Talking Heads – Once In A Lifetime: Every now and then, I battle with myself over which is my all time number 1 track…Are Friends Electric usually just pips this..but its damn close!
Grandmaster Flash – White Lines: Just an awesome piece of music, I remember my sister buying this for me on vinyl this and The Message got played to death!
Afrika Bambaataa – Planet Rock/Gary Numan – Cars: The quintessential Electro track meets another favourite of mine Cars. I like mixing these two together.
Mental Cube – Q: An absolute killer of a tune, Future Sound of London in the Mental Cube guise.
Hardfloor – Acperience: Pure energy!!!!
A Guy Called Gerald – Voodoo Ray: Can play this anywhere on any night and you will get a great reaction, hands down acid classic!
Donna Summer – I Feel Love: Totally ground-breaking. Another killer.
Kraftwerk – Tour de France/Stanton Warriors – Knowhow remix: Both tracks are just pure class, love playing about mixing these together.
Excerpt from Bladerunner: Another film that gets me every time, first record I ever put out on Cleveland City was called Tears in the Rain and we sampled this very section…only fitting that I should end this mix with it really!
