Mini interview with stelios vassiloudis:

Hi Stelios, we last spoke in 2014 when you were embarking on a tour of South America. A lot has changed since then. Can you bring us up to speed on your major achievements?

Perfect timing! You’ve caught me in South America once again. A lot has changed, indeed. I took a minor leave of absence from music in the last 3 years to pursue an MBA so that’s probably the most major of my achievements. I’ve been back producing recently and I am very proud to be working with great labels such as Bedrock, Selador, Poker Flat and Armadillo.

You recently released an EP on Guy J and Sahar Z's Armadillo Records and you've kindly provided us a downtempo mix. Is this just you showing you more experimental side or are you moving in this direction now?

That’s a good question! I’ve always been very interested in developing that sound but the impetus for producers is, sadly, always to produce music that works in tandem with your major revenue source, which is usually DJing. So, much as I’d love to move in that direction, there’s always the nagging doubt that I can’t afford to over-indulge in these kinds of projects. Having said that, it’s definitely a long-term aspiration of mine to grow up and try to transcend formulaic club music.

What other gigs and releases do you have in the pipeline

My next few tracks are seeing the light of day on the amazing new “Frequencies” CD on Bedrock and I’m really happy with them. After that, I’ll be returning to the label at some point towards the end of the year to complete my EP trilogy that I started last year. My best few gigs are in Rosario and Santiago this weekend.
