Positioning Your Heart for Divine Encounter | Open Book | Apr 14, 2026 | CR

Crystal Rivers | Open Book | Apr 14, 2026
Approach every gathering with God as a deliberate pursuit, not a passive routine. Refuse to drift into His presence casually—come with expectation, hunger, and readiness. Before anything else, align your heart: silence distractions, disengage from noise, and consciously invite His presence. Recognize that moments spent with God are not ordinary—they are opportunities for encounter, for transformation, and for receiving what is necessary for your present season.

Understand this clearly: knowing God is not achieved through information, repetition, or familiarity with language—it comes through revelation. Until God reveals Himself to you, your understanding remains shallow. But when He reveals Himself, truth becomes living, active, and deeply personal. His love is no longer an idea; it becomes something you experience within you. Therefore, prioritize revelation over routine. Seek to encounter Him, not just to learn about Him.

Guard the condition of your heart. A hardened heart cannot receive truth, and an offended heart will reject it even when it is needed. Choose to remain soft, humble, and teachable. When truth confronts you, do not resist it—lean into it. Allow correction. Embrace growth. A fertile heart is one that not only hears the Word but allows it to take root, grow, and produce visible transformation.

Develop sensitivity to the inner workings of the Spirit. The Spirit of God communicates within you, bearing witness in the depths of your heart. This witness is not always loud, but it is consistent—often expressed through peace, assurance, or a quiet knowing. Train yourself to look inward before reacting outwardly. When situations arise, do not be led by panic, fear, or external pressure. Instead, check your heart. Beneath surface emotions, there is a deeper place where God speaks. If there is peace, trust it. If there is unrest, pay attention. Learn to discern this inner witness, because it is one of the primary ways God leads you.

Discipline your focus. Even when you appear attentive, distraction can still exist subtly within. You must intentionally draw your attention back to what God is saying in the moment. Refuse mental wandering. Refuse divided attention. Give yourself fully to the Word when it comes, because what you receive in those moments carries the power to shape your life.

Commit to spiritual maturity. Do not remain at the level of basic understanding. There is a call to grow beyond spiritual infancy into depth and stability. Desire substance. Seek truth that stretches you. As you mature, the Word will begin to affect not just your emotions, but your thinking, your decisions, and your interactions with the world. Growth is not optional—it is evidence that you are truly receiving.

Return continually to the foundations of your faith. Revisit and reinforce the truths that define who you are as one born again. Let these truths move from your mind into your heart, until they become the lens through which you see everything. When these foundations are firmly established, your relationship with the world changes—you begin to respond from identity, not from circumstance.

Recognize that the power of God is not distant or abstract—it is available to you now. But access to that power is tied to alignment. A distracted, hardened, or insensitive heart cannot walk in what has already been given. As your heart aligns, as your sensitivity increases, and as your understanding deepens, you begin to live in the reality of that power.

In this season, be intentional. Quiet yourself. Pay attention. Seek depth. Allow God to reveal Himself to you again and again. Let your heart remain open, your spirit responsive, and your focus steady. This is how you move from merely attending to truly encountering, from hearing to becoming, and from knowing about God to living in the fullness of who He is.
