Back in 2000 I recorded a mix for Coldcut's legendary radio show Solid Steel. It included many favourite tracks which I found on my UK Digging Tours. On each of these tours I visited record stores and record labels in London and sometimes Brighton or Bristol. Some good memories connected to this mix include visits at Pussy Foot Headquarter, which was at Hoxton Square, and Ultimate Dilemma, which was in Brick Lane (if I remember correctly). Other tunes from this mix came from people, who recorded mixes for the BTTB-X-Series, like The Runaways, People Like Us, Rockers HiFi, Luke Gordon (aka Spacer), Receiver (he gave me the U-Cef 12") and others.

Thanks to Coldcut, DK and Strictly Kev for giving me the chance to air this mix on Solid Steel.

How does it feel to be on tour again"-Interview hinaus.

I’m not asking for miracles“. Fuck you.

BTTB - Back To The Basics startete ich dann weitere drei Monate später am 23.9.1992.

Pressure Drop are Justin Langlands and Dave Henley. They always had a huge influence on BTTB - Back To The Basics. Even the title of the show is a sample taken from "Back2Back" from their 1st album "Upset".

Later they started BBBC - Blood Brothers Broadcasting Corporation, their own radio show on german mdr Sputnik. This show was an inspirational trip through dope beats, jungle, raggamuffin and hiphop. For many years it was one of the main influences on my record box.

In 1996 I contacted them and they invited me to meet them at Atlas Records in Soho and drive with them to their studio, known as the Blood Brothers Control Tower in London, where they would record one of their shows together with Paul Guntrip and some others. It was definitely a highlight!

A month later they sent me a mixtape for BTTB. Part 2 in the BTTB-X-Series.

Here it is.

Pressure Drop - "BBBC-Intro" (No Info)
Spacer - "Contrazoom" (Pussy Foot 1996)
Funki Porcini - "Carwreck" (Ninja Tune 1996)
DJ Shadow - "Stem" (Mo' Wax 1996)
DJ Wally - "Aquazonk" (Sam'z Jointz 1996)
Celia Vaz - "Francisco Cat (Pressure Drop Remix)" (Far Out 1998)
Kushti - "Hello It's Wednesday" (Octopus 1996)
Schizoid Man - "Break Voucher" (Nation 1996)
Natural Resource - "They Lied" (Ekapa 1996)
Jeru Tha Damaja - "Ya Playin' Ya Self" (Payday 1996)
Charizma + Peanut Butter Wolf - "My World Premiere" (Stones Throw 1996)
