WARNING: This show is NOT smooth.

In 1978 & 1979, Columbia Records released two promo only double sampler albums for in store plays. They included artists like Bob James, Stanley Clarke, Eric Gale, Maynard Ferguson, Tom Scott and so many more. All would become legends in the Jazz world.

Compiled now of mostly digital reissues, I have recreated those albums as two amazing fusion sets for this holiday weekend. This is the 1978 set; the 1979 set will be released on Monday. It’s a great way to look back to what Columbia Records and their labels were releasing over 40 years ago and how it’s gone on to affect Contemporary Jazz today. Enjoy this one as we continue Sampling The Summer in The Kitchen.
