The US label was established in 1982 by digital music pioneer Tom Jung. The label's policy was to record jazz musicians from a broad spectrum of styles, whose composition and performance can best be communicated with the extended range and depth of digital audio. DMP was the first label to utilize 20-bit recording and conversion technology as well as release the world's first multichannel SACDs.
