● Born in raised in a small town in North Carolina where pickup trucks, bon fires and country music were our main source of entertainment on weekends. I even had inspirations to one day to become the first Asian/American Country music singer. :) It wasn't until Las Vegas 2007 during a friend's bachelor party when I first discovered house music. I was familiar with techno back in the early 2000's, but wasn't a fan of techno. The sound I discovered in 2007 I had never heard before. I was very intrigued and later discovered that it was a new house sound. That sound was dutch house music! I instantly fell in love with this sound and knew then that it would evolve to where it is today. My influences are Alesso, Axwell, Chuckie, Dannic, Fedde Le Grande, Ingrosso & Nicky Romero.

For over a decade John Monkman has been part of the international Electronic Dance community releasing records on some the world’s biggest and most cutting edge labels, including: Kompakt, Get Physical, Anjunadeep, Suara and Rebellion.
2015 saw the release of two widely acclaimed summer dance tracks: the first being Monkman’s remix of Solomon Grey’s ‘Twilight’, a track which topped the Beatport charts reaching #1 and remained there for 2 weeks. Twilight, released on Deep House heavyweight Anjunadeep, was well supported by Pete Tong, SKREAM and Danny Howard on BBC Radio1, confirming it as one of the summer's biggest dance floor records. The second was PHØENIX, released on German label Kompakt and is the second collaboration between Monkman & Pete Tong. For over a decade John Monkman has been part of the international Electronic Dance community releasing records on some the world’s biggest and most cutting edge labels, including: Kompakt, Get Physical, Anjunadeep, Suara and Rebellion.
2015 saw the release of two widely acclaimed summer dance tracks: the first being Monkman’s remix of Solomon Grey’s ‘Twilight’, a track which topped the Beatport charts reaching #1 and remained there for 2 weeks. Twilight, released on Deep House heavyweight Anjunadeep, was well supported by Pete Tong, SKREAM and Danny Howard on BBC Radio1, confirming it as one of the summer's biggest dance floor records. The second was PHØENIX, released on German label Kompakt and is the second collaboration between Monkman & Pete Tong. Having recently released a single from his debut album, “Losing My Mind,” features the fluid and rhythmically talented Gabe Gurnsey, drummer from the UK post-industrial group Factory Floor. The release also includes three wild and unequivocal remixes from the likes of Nite Dub, Samuel Berdah and the Italian electronic ace, Rodion. Having just released the single two days ago, XLR8R is pleased to bring you an exclusive download of Rodion’s rework of Tronik Youth’s single, “Losing My Mind.” Approaching the remix with his usual deep, electronic disco laden style, Rodion gives the track a “chrome workover” with velvet like drums, bionic vocals, abating synth lines and a deep minimal bassline which carries the track in an aloof fashion.

Both children of the illustrious nightlife of trend capital Zurich, Adrian Flavor and Samy Jackson have made a name for themselves with their Rakete parties, held mostly at their home base, the chic Hive club, as well as many other locations in and around Switzerland. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has also been infected with the animal fever: whether it’s Watergate, Kater Holzig or Harry Klein, no European top club can escape the paws of the Swiss boys and they have even been sighted regularly in more exotic locations like Thailand and South Africa. No matter where, whenever people talk about a set of the two turntable wizards, they excitedly speak of the moment ‘it’ happened. ‘Cos ANIMAL TRAINER have a talent to play music that inspires and leads electronic trends, rather than follows them. Added to this, they are famous for their love of the party, frequently being the last to leave the club.

As dedicated music lovers and passionate entertainers, it was a natural progression for the duo to channel their constant appetite for music and endless partying into their own sounds. Thus, their first baby steps were released on Stil vor Talent in the form of ‘Talkshow’ in 2008. Since then, ANIMAL TRAINER have had releases on renowned labels such as Poker Flat, BEEF Records, FLASH, Dantze, as well as their own Hive Audio, on which they always strike a remarkable balance between tight grooves, infectious hooks and a whole lot of L.O.V.E.. Where other producers might rest on a well-tested formula, Adrian and Samy focus on remaining versatile, just like when DJing. Hence, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that lately the atmospheric ‘Sunday’ rubbed shoulders with peak time bomb ‘Krambambuli’ – perhaps even in one of their DJ sets.
