Sowetan born DJ Andzo D-Note, real name Andile Vuso, happens to be one fellow whom his name is on evertone’s lips in his community. Having an ear for music at the age of 8, Andzo D-Note’s love for music started when he visited his uncle’s room while he was preparing to go to work and Andzo would make it a habit to go to his uncle’s room just to listen to classical music and loved singing to Johnny Clegg’s The Crossing (Osiyeza) before going to school. He grew up in an era when Jazz, Disco, Soul, Hip Hop, Kwaito and Funk were genres which were the focal point during that time, however his love for music was when Deep House began to make an impact in the late 90’s. This genre began to manifest and that’s when his love for music grew even more through Deep House when the first song he listened to was What Do I Gotta Do by Roland Clark featuring Urban Soul, which was on Vinny Da Vinci’s House Afrika Vol 1 album.

In his teens, around age 15, kids his age were listening to mainstream music, to which at that time, was Kwaito and Hip Hop, however for Andzo D-note it was more than that. He was more fascinated more with chords, rhythm and melody through Deep House that had vocals in every song that was made. He took an interest in music when he studied Sound Engineering at Damelin Braamfontein and that’s when he began his music production and Djing in 2007. Throughout the entire course, he became fascinated with knowing other genres of music, including Classical, Smooth Jazz, Bossa Nova, Lounge, Uptempo etc, it became personal to the point he became learning the skill of DJing via his classmates when vinyls (LP) were still at their prime and he became to hone his skill of DJing and also began his music production skill at that time.

He also played a role in VaalSow’s hit song Hade Mabebeza with his former classmate and closest friend William Earl W Green Makume, who now has released singles such as Blow My Mind with George Lesley and his latest single Vibez with V-Underground. Currently Andzo D-Note has been focused in doing mixes of different genres and has played in numerous events and has met influential people in his line of work and still continues to do his music with Earl W Green. He is currently working on an EP which he plans to release later in the year and his wish is to work with both local and international acts and has decided to broaden his musical intellect on a broader scale.

DJ Ludz, (Ludwe Litha Ntando Runeyi) born in a small town in the Eastern Cape known as Mthatha (former Umtata), her love for house music dates back to the early 90’s through listening to a community based radio station in her hometown.

After completing her high school in 2004, she went and studied at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town. This is where she got the opportunity of interacting with a few DJ’s at the campus and started picturing herself as a DJ as well. The DJ’s she interacted with never took her seriously when she expressed her desire to become a DJ and the only way she could come close to her dream was to start collecting the music for herself.

In 2007, after one of South Africa’s biggest DJ’s Budda’s untimely death, Ludz started a Facebook page known as “Long Live The Revolution Of House Music”. This page was dedicated to all the South African DJ’s whom we’ve lost over the years and those who are still alive. The page also had weekly updates of events happening in and around the country. This page had maintained good communication between DJ’s and promoters in the country.

2008 saw a meeting that would change Ludz’s life for the better as she finally got to explore her DJing talent. She met a female DJ from Cape Town known as DJ Knox. Theirs was a friendship that blossomed into something beautiful because Knox would drag Ludz along to all her gigs and radio interviews in Cape Town. DJ Knox was taken aback by Ludz’s passion for house music that she introduced her to Carbon Blaq, who had CDJ’s. Ludz would spend countless hours perfecting her djing skills until such time that Knox decided to play alongside her at events.

After completing her studies, Ludz had to find a job as well as further her djing career. In April 2009, she moved to Pretoria, where she got a job offer from Sisco (owner of the successful Multi-Racial Records) as a PR and Marketing Manager. She was also signed as a Multi-Racial DJ. Through her job, Ludz has had the pleasure of playing along big names such as DJ Sisco Umlambo, Mesh Potato, Rowick Deep, Greg Nate, Simza, Malankane, Black Coffee, Vinny Da Vinci, Christos, Soul Sista, Boipelo, Lady Buhle, China, Claude, Lulo Café, Lady DK as well as international DJ
Roland Clark.

Through recognition of her work, Ludz was appointed as one of the ambassadors in 2011 for Strictly Rhythm, an American record label, best known for its highly regarded house music catalogue.

Later in 2011 she worked as a PR/Marketing Manager at Zano Urban Global Music which belongs to Zano (the singer who introduced us with "Hello", a song he did with Black Coffee).

Because her mixes were played so much at Rhythm 100 Radio so much, it was then her interest in radio came about; Mandla "BigMandla" Khoza (co-owner of Rhythm 100 Radio) asked Ludz to produce his show "The House Of Pleasure" which was every Friday nights from 20h00pm - 00h00am.

Her love for radio continued, she joined an online radio show called Globalize Yourself Stereo in 2014.

What started out as just the love she had for house music, ended up being expressed later on the decks for DJ Ludz. She is now living her dream and big things are still about to
happen for this talented DJ.
