Beatnik City is back with another fun release to boogie down to! This funky 4-track EP is focused solely on showcasing one of our up & coming artists, Sicilian DJ/Producer: Ree Keen. He takes us on a multi-decade adventure that blends distinct rhythms form the 60s & 90s, we call that a Beatnik City ‘Audio 69’.
Like a good intro to a movie, the opening track ‘Like That’ kicks off the release with bright horns and big beat dance party grooves.
Reminiscent of the US3’s 90’s classic ‘Cantaloop’, this track blends: soulful saxophone, jazz melodies & up-tempo rhythms prepares you perfectly for the next track. ‘Get Break’ gives us a fun glimpse of what The Beatles would have produced if they were Breakbeat DJs from the 90s. Teenyboppers-approved floor filler. Trust us, you’ll need it because everyone will be ‘flippin’ that thang down’ and reversing it all night to 'Summerwork' mash-up of Mungo Jerry’s ‘Summertime’ and Missy’s ‘Work It’.
The song mixes well with any island theme drinks and prepares you perfectly for the next track. ‘Calypop’ playfully continues the 'Double Ay Carumba' atmospheres seamlessly with fun & light melodies fit for any daytime dance party.
We at Beatnik City thought it would be the perfect way to proudly close out our first, dedicated release to the extraordinary Ree Keen. Enjoy!
