For the fifteenth episode of our podcast we are excited to present the powerful sound of "Scary Woods", a duo formed by two of our resident DJs!

"Scary Woods" is an electronic-experimental producer and DJ duo from Hamburg that has focused on drum and bass. This project, consisting of "Violet Core" and "Dr Woe", exists since 2014 and brings conscious drum and bass and destroyer basslines on display.

The duo not only produces drum and bass but also downtempo tracks. Their deput EP "Pulse" was released in Septemer 2019 on "Insomnius Music" and reflects the different facets of their musical influences and abilities. Their latest single "Toxic Planet/Corruption" equally mirrors the diversity of the project, ranging from halftime to hard-hitting technoid drum and bass.

In their sets, "Scary Woods" combine own productions and unreleased "Insomnius Music" tunes, as well as the best that dark & heavy drum and bass has to offer.

For this month's episode of our podcast we are excited to welcome "Section 63", better known as "Blade" from "The Sect".

As a child he was hooked on the breakbeat hardcore emanating from London’s pirate radio stations and started collecting records in his early teens, before progressing onto DJing at local parties. He also made his first forays into the studio, releasing a number of hardcore records under the alias "Blade". Whilst at university, he worked at the famed drum and bass specialists "Tripp2 Records" and was a resident DJ at the legendary Paradox parties, as well as playing regularly around the south coast and cutting his teeth in the "Stars of the Future" rooms at large national events such as One Nation, Dreamscape and Best of British.

Motivated by the futuristic output of artists such as Konflict, Stakka & Skynet and Bad Company, he hooked up with "Virtua" and fellow Paradox resident "Method" to focus on production. "The Sect"’s first release was on "DJ Red"’s "Distance Recordings" in 2003, but they really exploded onto the scene in late 2006 with their debut single on "Obscene" and self-titled EP on "Offkey" dropping in the same week. Numerous singles, EPs, remixes and collaborations across many seminal labels swiftly followed, cementing both their status at the forefront of the techno-drum and bass movement and their place in the wider scene. In 2011, their album "Fractured State" was released on "Subsistenz" and they founded their own label "The Sect Music" the following year. After DJing extensively around the world for more than a decade, "The Sect" performed their last gig on NYE 2017/8, signalling the end of the project.

The first "Section 63" release was a collaboration with "Mako" on "Warm Communications" in 2016. Initially intended as an alias for any non-"The Sect" tracks, Dave adopted this moniker full-time in 2018, with his debut solo release the "Transformation EP" on "Mute:8". Further EPs and singles have followed on Mute:8, Perkussiv, Attik, Krytika Productions and Drumatch and looking forward the release schedule sees remixes and collaborations slated on numerous imprints.

For our podcast, "Section 63" prepared one hour of finest technoid drum and bass, including unreleased tunes from himself as well as some classics.

„K-TecK“ started twisting knobs in 2001 and didn't stopped since. He represents hardcore, industrial, crossbreed and drum and bass, both as DJ and producer. His production skills got better day by day, which resulted in various awesome releases on labels like Battle Audio Records, Noisj.nl and Future Sickness, to name a few. Make sure you check out his tracks. His productions are hard and refreshing and these days, it's hard to find artists which have their own vision. K-TecK is growing his skills and keeps searching for new things to evolve his style, which makes his productions so special.

Born in Minsk, „IdeatorZ“ has had a big passion for music for all his life. Two years after graduating from music school in 1997, he discovered the captivating world of drum and bass. Even if he was already into drum and bass since the late 90's, it took him nearly twenty years to get involved in music production, in order to follow his own vision of hard-hitting neurofunk.

„IdeatorZ“ quickly enhanced his production skills, which led to a bunch of releases including labels like Distortion Records, Patrol The Sky and DarkSide Records. After moving to Hamburg, he played his first DJ Gigs in the new hometown and in Berlin in 2019, mesmerizing the audience from the first second.

“Robyn Chaos” is one of the most recognizable names in dark drum and bass, firmly establishing herself over the last two decades as one of the main forces in the darkcore and leftfield drum and bass scene. Not only a skilled DJ, but also a vocalist, songwriter, producer, promoter, agent, and all around general badass, She has fully embraced drum and bass with a pure passion for over 18 years.

As owner of “Therapy Sessions” worldwide, she personally oversees each and every event; working alongside local promotion teams/families on everything from line ups to flyer design. From its humble beginnings as an East End London midweek in 2003, "Therapy Sessions" rose to quickly become a award winning drum and bass tour de force, infiltrating dozens of cities across the globe, such as Hamburg, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Porto, Osaka, Paris, St. Petersburg and more. In 2015 "Robyn Chaos" started up “Therapy Sessions Recordings”, supporting the experimental & darker side of drum and bass with both renown and upcoming artists.

As founder and director of the dark enthusiasts DJ Agency Anger Management, she has been instrumental in nurturing the long term, successful careers of almost every major darkside titan in the drum and bass world. Musically, “Robyn Chaos” released as part of the infamous "Faith in Chaos" outfit (with Dylan)and alongside some of the most respected artists in dark drum and bass, like Audio, Counterstrike, Zardonic, Switch Technique and many more. Also working on alternative projects, such as the southern tinged electro-blues sleaze concept series “A Town Called Hell”, “Robyn Chaos” continues to have fun, push boundaries and dance to the beat of her own heavily distorted drum.

For this episode, “Robyn Chaos” prepared a one hour journey through the realms of dark drum and bass, packed with own productions and unreleased material from her label “Therapy Session Recordings”.

Flying the flag high for Scotland, "Anikonik" has been at the forefront pushing the faster side of bass driven music in the north since 2013. Exploring the faster side of music with an undying love for drum and bass, jungle and footwork, "Anikoniks" sets are typically hard, fast paced and experimental - pushing the boundaries of genres is her forte.

Starting out in Dundee, her work as a promoter for Junglism Scotland and as a resident DJ at the notorious Electrikal Sound System has meant she has fast gained her recognition within the underground music scene up north – especially in Edinburgh, where she regularly plays at club nights such as Midnight bass, Sound System Legacies and the Electrikal nights hosted in the Bongo club. "Anikonik" has supported the likes of Goldie, A.M.C, Chase and Status, Current Value, Mefjus and many more. She is a regular within the festival scene, having played the likes of Boomtown, Eden Festival, Kelburn Garden Party, to name a few.

"Anikonik" is not only a DJ and promoter, but a budding producer who was picked as a mentee by RAM Records for the EQ50 mentorship program this year. The dance floor is a sacred space for her, and having the privilege of working with one of the UKs best sound systems means a lot has been learned in terms of music quality and what it is that drives people to dance. This knowledge is currently being applied to her productions, in which she is in no rush to release – until the quality is high and the vibe is absolutely perfect.

For our podcast, "Anikonik" prepared a energetic one hour ride through various styles of dark drum & bass – perfectly showcasing the diversity of her selection.

This month's episode is bringing uncompromised dark drum and bass in your ears – we proudly present „Shadow Sect“ (@shadowsectmusic) !

„Shadow Sect“ is a producer and DJ duo based in Italy, focussing on neurofunk and hard drum and bass. Coming from different musical backgrounds, they joined their forces to create a unique sound, including influences from hardcore, drum and bass, metal and experimental electronic music.

They first performed together in 2013 at a Therapy Session night in Italy, followed by several gigs in over twenty countries all around the world. After the release of their debut EP „Monsta“ on Close 2 Death Recordings, „Shadow Sect“ released various EP's on some of the most respected labels in dark drum and bass, including PRSPCT Recordings, Othercide Recordings, Future Sickness and many more. If that's not enough already, these releases included collaborations with artists like Hallucinator, Switch Technique and Dope D.O.D., only to name a few.

This mix perfectly displays their own musical vision and their ability to heat up every dancefloor with their energetic DJ-Sets. Stick around "Shadow Sect" and stay tuned for the next moves to come from this hellish duo!

For the first episode of this year, we are happy to welcome Novi Sad based DJ and producer „Bons“.

After discovering the realms of drum & bass through his older brother in 2005, his love for the harder sounds of this genre grew more and more and resulted in his first experiences as a DJ in 2011. Even if Bons's own productions are focused on uncompromising neurofunk, his sets contain a wide range of drum & bass styles. Regarding his own productions, he started to shape his distinct style of hard-hitting neurofunk in 2013 and combining samples from domestic movies or videogames with aggressive basslines.

Since Bons's first release in 2017, he has placed his music on several well-known labels, including Close2Death Recordings, Hanzom Music and Boey Audio. Beside that, his tunes were supported by the likes of Abis, Jade, Mindscape and many more.

For our seventh podcast episode, „Bons“ prepared a 60 minutes ride through the spheres of dark drum & bass, including several own tracks and unreleased material.

For the first episode of this year, we are happy to welcome Novi Sad based DJ and producer „Bons“.

After discovering the realms of drum & bass through his older brother in 2005, his love for the harder sounds of this genre grew more and more and resulted in his first experiences as a DJ in 2011. Even if Bons's own productions are focused on uncompromising neurofunk, his sets contain a wide range of drum & bass styles. Regarding his own productions, he started to shape his distinct style of hard-hitting neurofunk in 2013 and combining samples from domestic movies or videogames with aggressive basslines.

Since Bons's first release in 2017, he has placed his music on several well-known labels, including Close2Death Recordings, Hanzom Music and Boey Audio. Beside that, his tunes were supported by the likes of Abis, Jade, Mindscape and many more.

For our seventh podcast episode, „Bons“ prepared a 60 minutes ride through the spheres of dark drum & bass, including several own tracks and unreleased material.

We are pleased to present you Vienna-based newcomer „Sequent“ for the sixth episode of our podcast.

„Sequent“ is a DJ and producer from Austria, who developed her interest for drum & bass in the early teenage years. She started collecting vinyl at the age of 14 and only two years later, she discovered the love for mixing.

As a DJ, she played many gigs such as 'Mainframe', 'Beat it' at FLEX, 'Kolo Rave' with the Error crew or 'Drumfabrik' in Upper Austria and had her first international appearances in Czech Republic and Slovakia as well. She gained more and more notoriety with her mainly deep, dark and tech-driven sets and her sharp mixing skills which led to an interview and guestmix on the infamous Slovakian radio show 'Signall_FM'. In January 2020, Sequent started to launch her monthly mix series 'Sunday Sessions' together with Vienna based DJ „Aras“.

As a producer, Sequent released her debut EP 'Thread' with her collab partner „Skruff“ on 'Blu Saphir Recordings' in November 2019 and is now part of the label-rooster. In addition, she has two single releases on 'Mainframe Recordings' and another track coming up on 'Deep Within' and gained support from e.g. Camo & Krooked, DJ Marky and HLZ.

For our fifth podcast episode, we present you a hard and heavy drum & bass live cut from "S/Acht", recorded at one of our Bass Forward The Revolution nights in September 2019 at the Gängeviertel in Hamburg.

„S/Acht“ started as a techno DJ back in the 90's and played in clubs like Stammheim Ost (Kassel), Cyberhouse (Hannover) and Infam (Göttingen). In the early 2000's, he quit DJing to focus on his passion for visuals as a VJ. With the Hamburg based label „Blackdata“, he produced visuals for T.Raumschmiere, Fightclub, Moonbootica, Drumbule, Hoch10 and WobWob.

After 15 years, „S/Acht“ had his comeback behind the decks, playing Miami bass at the Fusion Festival. Since 2017, he is frequently playing neurofunk-sets as a part of the Drumbule crew, in clubs like Hafenklang or VOID and at Festivals e.g. Off The Radar and Fusion.

Oldenburg based „Roxy“ recorded the first guestmix for the fourth episode of our monthly podcast.

„Roxys“ fascination for drum & bass started with collecting vinyls and quickly turned into a fervour for DJing. By combining halftime, dubstep and various subgenres of drum & bass, she developed a versatile style, which led to her first club-gig in 2009.

In 2010 Roxy won the second place at the "Soundclash DJ Battle" in Bremen, after that more invitations from local promoters and radio-shows followed. From 2012-2015 she has played for the Bremen-based „Lifeline-Promotions“ Crew and shared stages with artists like: Forbidden Society, Optical, A.M.C., Roni Size and many more.

Since 2016, she is pushing the dark side of drum & bass at the radio-station „Bremen NEXT“, once with her first show „Bassdrive“ and now with her show „Mixed mit Roxy“.

In this 90 minutes long mix, „Roxy“ delivers a fast-paced ride through heavy neurofunk and dark drum & bass, peppered with a few classics.

Oldenburg based „Roxy“ recorded the first guestmix for the fourth episode of our monthly podcast.

„Roxys“ fascination for drum & bass started with collecting vinyls and quickly turned into a fervour for DJing. By combining halftime, dubstep and various subgenres of drum & bass, she developed a versatile style, which led to her first club-gig in 2009.

In 2010 Roxy won the second place at the "Soundclash DJ Battle" in Bremen, after that more invitations from local promoters and radio-shows followed. From 2012-2015 she has played for the Bremen-based „Lifeline-Promotions“ Crew and shared stages with artists like: Forbidden Society, Optical, A.M.C., Roni Size and many more.

Since 2016, she is pushing the dark side of drum & bass at the radio-station „Bremen NEXT“, once with her first show „Bassdrive“ and now with her show „Mixed mit Roxy“.

In this 90 minutes long mix, „Roxy“ delivers a fast-paced ride through heavy neurofunk and dark drum & bass, peppered with a few classics.

In 2016, Woe co-founded the drum & bass label „Insomnius Music“, which from then on has been the home for several of his own releases. Beside his residency at Bass Forward The Revolution, he is also part of the Lübeck based „The Outrider Crew". In addition, „Dr Woe" is hosting the „Keep Da Bass Rollin'“ Podcast, with which he constituted a suitable format to show his passion for the deeper styles of drum and bass.

Expect 90 minutes of a distinctive dark selection, ranging from trueskool to modern and harder drum and bass, including various own productions.

As if this wasn't enough, she's also enhancing her own productions as a part of the producer & DJ duo „Scary Woods" and under her own Alias.
