Joe lets us know about some more cringe-rap thats dropped, as well as some other new songs that came out. We also talk about the appeal of getting rid of laptops while djing, and share some technology nightmares. This was a quick episode we know, but we really just didn't want you to miss us too long.

This week we have our first guest since being back from hiatus, Philly and Pittsburgh's own party Rocker, Radio vet, and tour DJ fir Wiz Khalifa.....DJ BONICS! We start off talking shop about clubs, request stories, twitch life, vinyl life, and the working class DJ perspective we all have. Bonics tells us how he got started as a DJ, and how he linked up with Wiz Khalifa. He shares some stories, including getting stuck overseas when COVID first hit, as well as, some of the difficulties one may face being a stoner in certain countries. We talk about the impact Wiz had on lots of todays rappers both aesthetically and sonically. Then the convo gets very "hits blunt" as we go on about social media, the news, and its alarming impact on ourselves and society. We end with Bonics talking about his new opportunities in Vegas in the marijuana industry, and his current fundraiser to help fight homelessness. You can contribute here by hitting the link in his IG bio @djbonics

Mike and Jabair talk about some recent gigs, while Mike updates us on what's been hitting and what's been flopping ,and how tik tok has made Jersey Club easier to play in the club. Then, Mike and Joe start reminiscing on the days as employees at Armand's records and Doc B's influence on record buying. As usual we all run down some new music that we're feeling, including Mike's surrender to emo pop rap. We go over some mid 2000's dancehall classics and wish they were still being made and Mike asks the listeners to help him figure out what riddim the new Ape Drums track reminds me of. We listen to some new UK drill, paticularly from Ivorian Doll and Jabair put us up on some new vibey stuff from DJ moma and others. We wrap it up with some tech talk and how the Cosby show was our first intro to sampling technology.

We fantasize about rolling into a club with a Travis Scott burger, while Mike explores his dancefloor body dysmorphia. Theres some brief discussion about The RBG acronyms other than Ruth Bader Ginsberg, reminiscing on Kony2012, and wondering how real is PS5 prostitution? We stumble upon a new microgenre that has been with us all along while going throught new hits, then end up reviewing the fallout of TIk Tok "bans" and some of the latest "bangers" that have emerged from a platform in which we all agree the world could do without.

This week we have DJ Excel! Now based in Los Angeles, Excel came back home to Philadelpha to sit with us and talk about the past, present, and future of DJing. Excel talks about his early days and his ascension into Philly's world of party rockin. He talks about his move to LA and the obstacles that needed to be overcome to make it in a new city. We also talk a lot of shit as usual!

From Excel's Bio:
Drawing upon the rich musical heritage of his Philadelphia upbringing and a cultivated influence from the numerous DJ pioneers that Philly birthed into the culture, it’s no surprise that the self taught DJ, who began his journey at age 11, has been a dance floor powerhouse in nightclubs around the world for 20 years.

Now based out of Los Angeles, Excel‘s rich stock has kept him in high demand amongst tastemakers and corporate clients like Nike, Google, Cisco, Youtube, HBO and Playboy, in addition to regular appearances spanning every nightlife market between the coasts, including residencies in Las Vegas, Miami, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Iowa City and Atlantic City. In his downtime, he produces with Baltimore’s DJ Impulse under the moniker ALFA PAARE. With 6 EP releases and numerous remixes for artists like, Dev, Yuna, Leon Bridges, & Silk City under their belt, they quickly have earned themselves regular placement in some of the most respected DJ sets around the Globe.
Other discussion topics include: the shortage of new and unifying songs, this week's installment of the ongoing Old Town Road saga, Brendan's history on the coming up in Philly & what it's like to play music for the adult children of people who met at your parties, and of course a rundown of Funkbox Party jams both old and new—rated on a scaled of 1 to 10 Chumpies.
