Produced in full secret as a surprise track to be premiered only at the Recoil ASHIB Screening Event in Guimarães, 23.11.12.
Both Alan Wilder and the audience didn't knew what was coming their way as the closing track from my warmup live set.

This special version for one of Recoil's most pivotal tracks builds around virtually recorded telephone calls from some of Alan's closest entourage including (in order of appearance) Mauricio Moriarty, Maira Oliva, Christine Thomsi Thomsen, Thomas Köckeis, Tatjana Glück, Kellie Andrews, myself and Rhianna Faye. They all chose one part of the text, but the general idea was each would have to say "and I want" on their native language. Having so much people close to Alan keeping their mouths shut until this piece played for the very first time was no easy task - but we've achieved it somehow:)

Rhianna Faye had the extra responsibility of being the new Nicole Blackman (all due respect), but I believe you will all agree she's done the job perfectly - let me just say her recording was a one take only file - wow!

Answering machine voices are Apple's TextEdit app running Text-to-Speech and choosing between two English spoken voices (male and female). Answering machine bleeps from effects libraries. The orchestration was made in Logic Pro using 4 tracks for French Horn sections, 1 for Steinway Grand Piano, 1 for Electric Bass, 2 for Staccato Strings and other 2 for Orchestral Percussion - all from Logic's internal library.
The rest ran along a series of interconnections between Ableton Suite and Logic. Plugins and Virtual instruments include Native Instruments, Sonic Charge, GForce, LinPlug.
Voices were recorded via Soundcloud, Audacity (as suggested) or other form chosen by each of the "callers".
Facebook was the meeting place.


This was originally meant NEVER to be repeated again.
Track is now public to listen and comment.
The original suspects are also free to expose their experience.

The Paik Sessions: Music for Vide-O-belisk -

"Vide-O-belisk" is an assemblage designed by Nan June Paik, generally considered the father of video art. Standing nineteen feet (6 m), the sculpture is made from twenty-four vintage television receivers, stacked to form an obelisk. The TVs display three distinct video loops. One features the most significant art objects from the Brooks' permanent collection, along with visual references to ancient Egypt—an obvious allusion to the fact that Memphis, Tennessee was named for the city on the Nile. Another is devoted to the advent of television—it includes key moments such as man's landing on the moon and an Elvis Presley performance, as well as the essential mechanical parts of television technology. The third displays musical instruments and performances, the inspiration for this project. John Cage, Laurie Anderson, and Charlotte Moorman, as well as other significant composers and performing artists who worked together with Paik appear in this footage. The television sets are flanked by neon lights that reference different forms of communication—Egyptian hieroglyphics, a telephone, a musical note. In all, Vide-O-belisk is a monument both to communications and art. Its central location in the Brooks’ rotunda makes it the first work of art one encounters when entering the museum and the gateway to the mid-South’s most encyclopedic art collection.

Paik famously claimed that "Skin has become inadequate in interfacing with reality. Technology has become the body's new membrane of existence." ]]>
