**The ninth and final Mogadon Tape, spreading the warm glow of Hygge house.
**

And so,
The end has come.

It's been eight months since we dropped the first Mogadon Tape, and we've finally reached the warm and fuzzy end of the line with this, the last mix in the series.

Had great pleasure in playing these last few tunes out to a fairly mullered crowd on a lovely, sultry evening this past summer, and all was as hoped for - slowly descended into a hugfest, with barely a dry eye in the house at a few points - hopefully some of those life-affirming sunset vibes come across in this take.

With nine mixes, more than eighteen hours of soulful mellow sweetness and close to 50 years of crate digging, laying down the Tapes has been a meandering journey, full of delight: breathing new life into old favourites, remixing a few tracks for pleasure, and airing some otherwise neglected classics, giving them the time and space they deserve - rather hoping you're able to elicit some similar joy out of these sessions and, if you feel the need, maybe you'll sneak back into the world of #hyggehouse from time to time.

In the meantime, thanks for your support, thanks for listening, be kind, and keep the fires burning.
<googleplay:description>**The ninth and final Mogadon Tape, spreading the warm glow of Hygge house.
**

And so,
The end has come.

Love and desperately drowsy dormice

We're getting very close to the end of this meandering journey and, honestly, everything from here on in is simply lovely.

**What is Hygge house?**

A touch of cosiness, a warm hug for your soul, providing a comfy aural blanket to transport you to a realm where time bends, worries fade, and relaxation takes the front seat.

Think of the cadbury's caramel ad...

So, slow down mr posty, savour the moment, and indulge in life’s simple pleasures.

The "M-tapes" are a cut-out-and-keep collection of mixes for chilled nights and lazy days, featuring a fair few "mellow late night house chilled classics", some of which have yet to be purloined by the world of granola advertising.

Many of these tracks have appeared in previous AbRad sessions, with good reason.
A few you may have never heard before.

The AbRad elves have curated these mixes for long term use, but whether you come back to these again and again when times are hard, or are here for a single ride, we hope you enjoy.

Here's Tape number Eight - stretch out with your feelings!
A touch of cosiness, a warm hug for your soul, providing a comfy aural blanket to transport you to a realm where time bends, worries fade, and relaxation takes the front seat.

So, slow down mr posty, savour the moment, and indulge in life’s simple pleasures.
The "M-tapes" are a cut-out-and-keep collection of mixes for chilled nights and lazy summer days, featuring a fair few "mellow late night house chilled classics", some of which have yet to be purloined by the world of granola advertising.

Many of these tracks have appeared in previous AbRad sessions, with good reason.
A few you may have never heard before.

The AbRad elves have curated these mixes for long term use, but whether you come back to these again and again when times are hard, or are here for a single ride, we hope you enjoy.
**A second journey into the Mogadon Tapes - settling in to the warm glow of Hygge house.
**

**What is Hygge house?**

A touch of coziness, a warm hug for your soul, providing a comfy aural blanket to transport you to a realm where time bends, worries fade, and relaxation takes the front seat.

Think of the cadbury's caramel ad...

So, slow down mr posty, savour the moment, and indulge in life’s simple pleasures.

Here's Tape number Two - slow and steady, easy does it!

Love and slow loris,

AbstractRadio - reaffirming the pedestrian

**Future Classics - Round One**

aka

So many tunes, so little time.

Representing music from six continents, we present a melle, nay, a veritable gumbo pot of sing-a-long soulfulness, noodly headnodders, latin lovelies, tribal trackiness, delectable dubs and disco delights, all mixed to within an inch of their lives.

You may not get it, and, well, that's a veritable tragedy, but the elves have been bouncing off the walls for some time listening to this here at Abrad towers.

As ever, our deepest gratitude to all the artists, djs and musicians who contribute to this wonderful scene.

Thanks for listening, and let the light of love shine on.
Hi again, welcome back, and thanks for coming.

Having temporarily abandoned the glamourous "fluffy stuff", our pesky AbRad elves have been beavering away to bring you something a wee bit deeper, a tiny bit darker - expect some tribal beats, jazzy headnodders, tracky treats, a bonanza of quality tech & deep house and, of course, a whole slew of future classics.

As ever, we'd be ever so grateful if you were to be so kind as to give us the thumbs up, or even better re-post the session if you like it.
And, if you don't like? Honestly, it's possible we might be beyond caring.
For much of this era, Strictly Rhythm was THE label of choice, but Easy Street, Nu-Groove, Nervous, Sub-urban, King Street, 4th Floor and countless other independent labels, many long since gone, all left their mark on the genre.
The hefty majority of this music was made at a time when the best producers on the NY scene had the luxury of easy access to splendid singers and nice big studios, and the lengthy and glowing roster of the sound's champions features many a lofty house dignitary; Humphries, Knuckles, Masters at Work, Basement Boys, Roland Clark, Benji Candelario, Victor Simonelli and, of course, Kerri Chandler.

For much of this era, Strictly Rhythm was THE label of choice, but Easy Street, Nu-Groove, Nervous, Sub-urban, King Street, 4th Floor and countless other independent labels, many long since gone, all left their mark on the genre.
First of all ... Welcome - since parting ways with mxcld, this is our first truly "official" mix for heathis@ - we're still settling in, and very much hope you like the show so far.

**Some deep house music for ya - AKA: file under "noodly".**

OK, not entirely so as, just for you, we've thrown in some tribal bangers, a smattering of latin beats and a soupçon of off-kilter weirdness.
All off the tab, on the house, no questions asked, a nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, know what I mean?

Al-zoh.
If you don't like deep stuff which achieves little apart from mess around with your head, you might want to stay away from this.
And if you really don't like deep stuff which achieves little apart from mess around with your head, you should definitely give this a listen - we made it for you.
Honestly.
Question yourself.

Couple of square-peg mixes lurking in here, but the tunes are a cross-breed of two pedigrees: blisterin' & crackin', so who cares.

Proper abstract stuff.

Mind y'selves.
And the lampshade.

**Meanwhile, more multideck mayhem from our merry pranksters...**

Without further ado, here's the **!!!REBUILT!!!** fifth section of sesh 50 - our welcoming bear-hug-like introductory session to our lovely new home here at www.hearthis.at/abstractradio/ - we hope you like the show so far!

This mix features the collected vocal talents of Aretha Franklin, Teddy Pendergrass, Greta Thunberg, Mutabaruka, Patrice Rushen, Rochelle Flemming, Cynthia Johnson, Nina Simone, Róisín Murphy and, of course, the wonderful Loleatta Holloway.
We're sure you'll agree, that's quite a line-up for a lacrosse team.

We've even knocked up a video for this one - you can find it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdPpn7p_B7M

NB: some Session 50's six parts have been rebuilt since first posted on mixcloud back in 2022. The tracks are the same, but they've been reordered and re-recorded to produce, for us, a far more satisfactory result.
** "In full swing ...."**

Here's the fourth part of session fifty - our farewell session to www.mixcloud.com/abstractradio/ , and more importantly, the fanfare-inducing, mould-breaking, breath-taking introductory / welcoming session to our nice new home at www.hearthis.at/abstractradio/.

Going a bit more mainstream after the deep shenanigans that was Session 50 - Part Three [ www.abstractradio.blogspot.com/2023/02/abstractradio-session-50-part-three.html ], we're shifting into full soulful party mode now, with a heap of great songs and a couple of rehashed old favourites that have crossed our path in recent times.

As ever, we hope you like.

**UPDATE 31.3.23**
The mind-melting video for this mix is now up on youtube : www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-V8gRDCLus

Here's the **!!!REBUILT!!!** third part of session fifty - our farewell session to www.mixcloud.com/abstractradio/ , and more importantly, the fanfare-inducing, mould-breaking, breath-taking introductory / welcoming session to our nice new home at www.hearthis.at/abstractradio/.

Moving swiftly on from the funkiness that was Session 50 - Part Two [ www.abstractradio.blogspot.com/2023/01/abstractradio-session-50-part-two.html ], we're pulling out several stops now and dropping into some serious, sweaty main-set underground & fierce tribal house vibes - more bangers than a sausage factory.

Our special thanks to the lovely people behind labels such as toolroom and motive records for their dedication in championing this sound.

NB: A number of the parts of Session 50 have been rebuilt since we first posted them on mixcloud in late 2022. The tracks are the same, but they've been reordered and re-recorded to produce, for us, a far more satisfactory result.

*** Your questions answered ***

What is this? An accompanying piece to our ambient abstractions sessions from 2016 - consider it a six-decade-encompassing cinematic, meandering sweep through all things horizontal.

What should I prepare myself for? Well, for starters, there's the break into the strings in Romer's That Was a Good Feeling, which is simply breathtaking. Then there's Hannah Peel's and Bill Callahan's astounding contributions, which also send shivvers.
And after that, pretty much all of the rest of it.

Is this a requiem for those no longer with us? To some degree, occasionally yes, but in a life-affirming way.

Is it deeply moving in parts? You betcha!

Should I be using heavy machinery while I listen? No, this would be highly inadvisable.

It seems to go on forever? Yep, that's the general idea.

It just sends me to sleep - WTF? The last 15 mins should counter that.

Have you completely taken leave of your senses? The jury remains out on that.

How long did this take to make? You really don't want to know ... let's say we really wanted to go the extra mile on this one.

Why not make it more manageable and cut it into two halves? Well, we thought long and hard about this, and decided that it makes a lot more sense when listened to as a whole.

Sorry, but where's the banging house music? Coming back soon, we promise.

- AbRad -

Taking you to obscure places
Not necessarily honouring the return fare.
**AbRad Aficionados...**

Welcome back, ánd all that.

Firstly, to keep you in the loop, if you haven't done so already, please could you subscribe to us here: https://shorturl.at/moCQ8

And, if you can "follow" us here at hearthis.at, we would be most grateful, as this is a new platform for us, and we'd love your support.

Anywho, before the doors were irrevocably slammed shut, we seized the opportunity to post one glorious final session on https://www.mixcloud.com/abstractradio/ as a undying thanks to everyone for all the support you've shown over the last eight years, and we decided to go out with a bit of a bang.

So...

We roped in a guest, chained them to the decks, blindfolded them, plied them with hooch, handed them the "golden horde" - a veritable treasure-chest of coveted tunes and, without any preparation, told them to play until we said "stop!" [for God's sake, please stop!]

Many bliss-filled, sweat-drenched hours later, the result - session 50 - our final session on mixcloud - is a loving wander through all the fine music we never had an opportunity to post onto that platform, with the odd old gem thrown in for good measure.

The mixing here is, well ... functional & acceptable - as stated, this was a one-take "live" studio set, and there was absolutely no prep. for this, so there's occasionally not much rhyme or reason to it, and mistakes were [often] made!
The tunes are blindingly good though - ranging from the sweet soulful end of house, to absolute end-of-night bangers, and pretty much everything in between, including a number of rather stupendous exclusives.

For your listening pleasure, we've broken down the session into six manageable parts ... five of which can be found here at hearthis.co and on https://www.mixcloud.com/abstractradio/ - mixcloud, while the sixth and blistering final part can **ONLY** and **EXCLUSIVELY** be found here @ https://hearthis.at/abstractradio/, our new home!

And here it is : the first opening gambit ... it's a spiritual thing!

Hope you like - see you on the other side!

And, for everyone out there who likes this stuff - all the dancers, musicians, djs, producers, promoters, club owners, record labels and records shops...

For full tracklisting, timings, artwork etc, please mosey on over to here: https://abstractradio.blogspot.com/2022/12/abstractradio-session-50-part-one.html

Thank you for the music,
