Short composition based around two catchy violin riffs. I feel that I have explored the themes fully and that there is no reason to prolong the ending just to make this composition a standard length. I realize I could have flushed out the ending a little more but sometimes surprises are good.

So let this be a small fugue. Perhaps a fuguetta.

also made it sort of a passacaglia although that form is still slightly new to me so there are breaks. but it does have a bass ostinato of leaping and then descending a fourth while being in a slow triple meter so there is that.

i misunderstood j.s. bach's fugue and passacaglia in c minor bmv 582. i liked how it sounded, did not pay attention to form. did not realize it was a passacaglia then a fugue instead of both simultaneously as i tried to do in this piece.

i tried to follow as many baroque conventions as i could but between my subject and passacaglia ostinato, it forced me into using second inversion chords quite a bit. doubling rule also ignored. some voice leading sometimes. i am proud of using almost only chord progressions with little retrogressions. also voice crossing avoided when possible.

it's rough but i'm new to this style. everyone has had a rocky start at some point. some are just rockier than others.]]>
