Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.

The Box is a project born of three prodigious musicians desire to explore new sounds and fresh approaches. Stefano Onorati, Walter Paoli and Andrea Guzzoletti, each highly acclaimed and vastly experienced musicians in their own right combine in perfect harmony to create this forward thinking collaboration. For this formidable collective, the creative process far outweighs the final result. For them, the central concept is always focused on how to play and express oneself instead of what to play; how they get there and not where they go. This outlook results in continuous improvisation with variations of form, colour and tone. A melting pot in which to mix the accumulated experience of three people engaged in perpetual and unrestrained dialogue, The Box always favours non-method over method. The only limitation being the absence of limits because when one doesn’t adhere to a form, any form is possible and when one doesn’t have a style, any style is possible.

"Sketches Of Pain" is a meet-up of two cultures which have been at war with each other for thousands of years. Music unites where the world of Men divides! Here the magical voice of Egyptian singer Ahmad Elsawy can weave its spell. Intelligent electronica, ethnic and acoustic instruments, all join together once more to blend two worlds into one universal language.

3 remixes. @LucaBacchetti continues his series of Endless Remixes preferring a mostly dub feel with a version that retains some of the original elements, creating that tension culminating in what is the “suspended” sonic idyll that lately has characterized his breakdowns, by now a trademark of his. @JonCharnis, who we already know for his work on Innervisions and All Day I Dream, has taken it in another direction to put together a true masterpiece, the tone here becoming more "trippy" with a pure afterhours atmosphere. The ever present and increasingly detailed groove add to that magic touch that has made Charnis one of the most interesting techno artists on the American scene. Last but not least one of our favourite techno artists, @EduardoDeLaCalle, surprises us with an interpretation that distances itself completely from the original, moving it into that enigmatic, mysterious and unregulated territory that is definitely his very own unmistakable way of living and feeling techno music. An EP that we expect will come-out from indoor clubs to find its best expression in exotic locations, deserts, beaches, dimensions that are part of that imaginary world that we call: ENDLESS.
"Over the course of the last year, we have all been taken on a variety of magical journeys through unique fusions of music and art. Whether you were sharing the room with a 20 foot gorilla shooting lasers out of its eyes or moving along with gentle flames dancing atop of melting wax, the artists providing the soundtracks to those experiences are too many too list. Magical moments are just that. They shouldn’t be degraded to a preferential top list. We don’t do top lists here. What we do here at SoundPark is a bit different. Our Season Closing will encompass some artists that crafted their own magic over the last year. We invited some of our favorites to come by the Park to answer some questions about what impressed them the most in 2013. They also provided a stunning exclusive mix to accompany you well into 2014.

Our next season closer is someone who has seen releases over No.19, Faceless, Leftroom, Supernature, All Day I Dream, and Innervisions. 2013 was a gigantic year for this talent. Everyone from Dixon, Tale of Us, Audiofly, Matthew Dekay and plenty of others have included Charnis’ work in their mixes. It was by no surprise that Charnis has now become one of the industry’s fastest risers. With releases coming up on No 19 and My Favorite Robot in the first half of 2014, this Los Angeles native has been crafting some impressive momentum and we see no slow-down in sight. Charnis makes his SoundPark debut with a stunning hour long entry that takes you into the deeper side of house and techno. Welcome to the Park." - SoundPark (Pulse Radio)

All of us here at All Day I Dream have been super excited about this release for months. Not only does it contain the gorgeous original mix from Maher Daniel and Jon Charnis that has been melting ladies hearts all summer long but we also have quite a superb remix. Luca Bacchetti's Endless label is one of our favorites here and it was only a matter of time until we knew we were going to (gently) prize something special from his musical soul.

His remix has caused a little bit of a stir. We've been bombarded on a daily basis with requests for it. Well, for all you bombarders, it's finally here. Initially we only sent it out to a tiny handful of friends and family. Dixon and Ame both played it in Panorama Bar on the same night, and it's been a staple track in Lee Burridge's sets all summer. It never sounded better than at Burning Man festival this year and those lucky enough to have been there will attest to the mystical journey it weaved as it meandered out of the Robot Heart bus's perfect sound system and across the playa. One of it's most memorable moments, so far, for sure. Now it's time for you to create your own magic with it. The hardest decision you'll have to make is deciding which mix to play. Dream on dreamers
The Truth (feat Marshall Jefferson)’, one of the standout tracks from Matt Tolfrey’s debut LP, ‘Word of Mouth’, sees a full single release with additional remixes from Gerd’s Geeeman project and John Charnis.

Leftroom boss, Tolfrey, dropped his ‘Word of Mouth’ LP late in 2012 and the project served as an insight into the influences and passions of the increasingly well-travelled DJ/Producer. ‘The Truth’ was a particular highlight for both listener and producer alike as it featured the vocals of none other than the ‘godfather of house’, Marshal Jefferson.

Tolfrey’s original version opens the package with a strident simplicity. Bare bones house with classic influences distilled in to a contemporary slice of 4:4 heaven, ‘The Truth’ ends up sounding distinctly timeless. L.A. Based producer Jon Charnis, an artist with increasing clout following work for Innervisions and No.19, turns in a moody late-night interpretation that drops Jefferson’s vocal input in favour of steadily building melodies.
4Lux boss and Dutch house-master, Gerd, dons his Geeeman for two versions which take on a rough-edged, brutalist house sensibility. Supernature’s provocative multi-artist LP, Kolors, will be released early summer. The first full album to come out of this label, Kolors is a grand opus – an artistic collaboration that merits some extended play time and inspires some serious soul searching.

Kolors is not your average compilation; the project explores the individual visual perception of color and how that compares to the unique auditory experience of music.

The 15 contributing artists have all chosen a color to define the essence of their track. The selected colors expand the traditional spectrum with on-point specifics like ‘Matt Silver,’ ‘Lunar White’ and ‘Mint Green’. Regardless how many adjectives used, everyone will see these colors differently, and that is exactly the point! The experience of colors, like music, is subjective.

The project’s rich concept adds layered depth and gives listeners an expanded auditory experience. The colors are well considered and one hears the artistic intention behind the labeling.

In a profoundly personal, artistic revelation artists also provided the reasoning behind their selection, evoking instant imagery and placing listeners in the mind of the musician. Of their track, ‘Lunar White’, John Charnis & Jimmy Maheras said, “When we wrote the song the melodies reminded us of the moments in a dark dance floor where people's faces were illuminated, whether by strobe lights and lasers, or the glow of the moon in an outdoor party.” That visual association becomes abundantly clear when one listens to the corresponding music.

Collaborations sometimes occur in the most unexpected ways. Jon Charnis (Innervisions), Mike Fisher aka Lovecraft (Stranjjur), and Prab K (Dance Through Life/SIM) had been friends for years in Washington DC, finding each other through music and developing a bond that crossed into all aspects of their lives. However, as their journeys took them in separate directions across Los Angeles, Boston, and Miami, sitting down together to make music was never easy.

On the day that they discovered Art Department’s remix competition, it felt like something special was in the air. A new year had just begun, and all of them had been touched by the magic of Burning Man. They agreed instantly that they would try to create something together, regardless of how much distance separated them. Within a few hours, each member of this collective started exploring sounds, sending them to each other, and eventually fusing their unique styles into a new whole. The end result came from a week of non-stop work, late nights spent in studios, and calling each other with no regard for the time of night.

In the end, this remix is about three close friends and musicians, the magic that comes from Robot Heart’s dusty playa sunrises, and new musical horizons together.
