Profile description of Gil Alves:

My parents have always been passionate about music. They were very eclectic and used to buy everything they listened to and liked. We had all sort of music genres in home, which lead me to become the DJ of home parties and neighbour parties. As I really enjoyed, when I was 13 years old I gathered some friends and formed a sound crew called the Bright Shark. When I was 14 to 15 years old I had my first experience in a radio station, it was love at first sight! The Metropolitana FM from Mogi das Cruzes, Sao Paulo, was a major learning experience in my life! There I learnt sound effects, audio operation, editing, mixing and so on… From this experience, I continued on pursuing my career in radio in different parts of Brazil. Added to 8 FM in Sao Paulo, I also worked at Jornal Amambai, Grande FM and Terra FM, all located in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul; Independente and Itapuama FM in Pernambuco; Sistema Correio de Comunicacao in Paraiba. Additionally, through the years I ventured into nightclubs, events and parties. The first nightclub I became resident was located in the countryside of Mato Grosso do Sul – Country Clube Amambai. I then progressed to Clube Amambai and Aquarios, both experiences taught me a lot. While living in Dourados – MS, I had the great pleasure of organising major events and to play at Broadway and Stillus nightclubs amongst others. However, destiny reserved me a very special change and in 1997 I arrived at the ‘Samurai’s Land’. Here in Japan I learnt so much more and had the opportunity to showcase my music at the country’s “Mecca” of Electronic Music: Tokyo Roppongi. I played at The First Bar, White Room, Blue Bar and Barrako. Similarly, I had the opportunity to participate in events at the Clube Cita; I played at the Circo de Soleil’s NYE party and the Brazilian Festival at the Yoyogi Park. Furthermore, I was honoured to meet Alessandro Tausz and the DJ LAB where I attended courses, won contests, made partnerships and joined the ChystieAne’s EP launch project by producing the official remix. Nowadays, I present the DJ LAB Experience which introduces Brazilian DJs, producers and remixes to the online public. What gives me pleasure in living is to be able to produce, play, create, invent, explore and feel music all over my body and soul. To experience the sounds of everything in life is inspiring.
