I was pretty fucking excited. It got even better when Alfie said I should play it solo because I deserved to get my own set at a weekender and he really isn't a fan of bounce, he only made these Lamin8ers tracks with me because we love working together and basically i made him do them for me, i went to a wonderful charm school.

Anyways... on the night it was fucking brilliant. The crowd were amazing and I had the time of my life. I am so chuffed it went as well as it did and some of the feedback through various new fans status on facebook I have never been happier about a set. Two separate people said it was their set of the weekend and I was blown away by a lads comment that it was the best set he had EVER heard!!! (wow!...... although i have to question, has he been to more than two sets in his life?)

I am about to go to bed but will post the tracklist in the next few days. Thank you for all your support throughout the years and i am hyper chuffed i finally got to play for you at a Tidy Weekender.

Two of the biggest fans of these mixes are Ru & Jamie that run 'We Love Bounce' which I am resident for. They practically begged me to do a third instalment as a promo mix for one of their nights.

I had to scrape the barrel to find tracks that are the right flavour and I needed to do a lot of editing but I managed it and Donktastic was born!

Smile 6

In 2006 I did my first official demo and for some reason I named it Smile. Because of this demo I got my first proper gigs and managed to spread my name a little.
Things really took off a year later when i did Smile 2 and released it the week of a Tidy Weekender. I think i posted out nearly 400 copies!
Since then I have done a Smile mix ever year. Its been nearly 18 months since Smile 5 so i figured I better get a move on!

I have tried to make all the demos fast paced and fun. Always sticking to a formula of combining Hard Dance, Bounce and Hard Trance. In particular making sure the mixing is interesting, tight and keeps that pace up! You wont see many 'Cut Mixes' on my demos!

So here it is. Its been months in the planning, collecting tracks, making tracks, sorting the artwork, making an intro, mixing the thing and doing all this while still keeping the 'Smile' feel to the mix.
Hopefully i have done a good job. I have included my favourite tracks from the last year by some of my favourite producers and combined them with my new productions since Smile 5. I had to do something special at the end of the cd to complete the series so I hope you enjoy 'Wains World!'

A mix I did for clubbers to take and enjoy at the first Ideal Weekender! Full of some of my favourite hard dance tracks that I have been playing in my sets recently.

I have leaned the mix slightly towards the hard house side of things because the Weekenders are the spiritual home of hard house in my eyes!

I have tried to keep it fun and uplifting with the usual 'Johnstone' flavours going on.

We have taken one of our favourite riffs from the last few years and given it a full hard dance workover in a way that only the Lamin8ers can do!!!

Such a wicked riff that this was an obvious choice for our second piece of 8-bit madness.

When we made my Wains World track for the end of my Smile 6 mix I wanted Heavens Cry in the mash up. Alf HATES heavens cry and said the only way he could do it would be to do a silly version. This was the first place he did the 8-bit version.

People really liked it and quite a few said I should do a full length version. Eventually I ground down Alf and he owed me a favour so I practically made him make this full version. Heavens Cry is my favourite track of all time and I had already remixed once with the Audio Hedz. The only direction to take this mix was to basically remake the Flash Harry mix with modern production, add the 8-bit and boom it was done.

This track couldn't be more Marmite. People either love it or hate it. Either way it seemed pretty popular and spent 6 weeks at No.1 in the track it down charts. Thanks to Tidy for signing it!

I have always loved this vocal and when we got an opportunity to use the original vocal I couldnt pass it up! The bouncy fun version has been done already and I love that version so we wanted to take it in another direction.
