Profile description of Tony SlackShot:

Tony is an experienced DJ and has been playing for over 20 years now. He made a name for himself within the Breaks scene when Nu Skool Breaks took off around 10 years ago and hails from a highly musical area of the world that spawned such headline acts as Krafty Kuts, A.Skillz, Richard Earnshaw, The Wideboys, Spiritchaser, Transparent Sounds, Antony Hegarty from Hercules & The Love Affair plus dozens more.

“I always loved music with a big bass line like Breaks, Electro, Fidget & DnB” Tony explains. “But I was always hugely influenced by the underground and tribal house sounds of Fabric’s Tyrant, Wiggle in Empire/Mud Club/Fabric and local DJ and Reform party maker, Harvey Bailey. It’s all about the hooks, grooves, switches and head down, early a.m. dancing!” he says with a massive grin on his face. “…I’ve tried to make it my job to present all of these styles through the mediums of my nights, Get On It and Jackin as well as my radio show on Brap.FM .”

Tony’s events, Jackin and Get On It originated in his hometown of Chichester and rapidly became the biggest and most attended events the town has ever seen. Over the last 2 years Get On It & Jackin have played host to such legends as Midfield General, JFB, Reset Robot, Plump DJs, Timmi Magic, current international DMC Champ Mr Switch, Colin Dale, Krafty Kuts, The Freestylers, and A.Skillz. Ghetto funk’s Stickybuds made Get On It the last show of his European tour and Terry Francis, Eddie Richards and Nathan Coles all played individually and then returned as a trio to make Jackin part of their Wiggle 20th anniversary tour. Both events are now growing are also being hosted in the adjacent town of Bognor as well as continuing in Chichester.

Over the years, Tony himself has left his mark at such clubs and events as Ministry of Sound, The End, 333, The Big Beat Boutique, The Egg, Turnmills, The Concorde2, Canvas, Herbal, and The Key playing alongside the likes of Brett Johnson, The Utah Saints, Darren Emerson, Billy Nasty, Steve Angello, Frankie Valentine, Tall Paul, Green Velvet, Lee Coombs, Shades of Rhythm, Lo Fidelity Allstars, Tim Deluxe and DJ Touche. His radio show, now being a year old has already had studio guests in the shape of Beardyman, Evil Nine, Mr Switch, Atomic Hooligan and JFB, Evil Nine, Marc Baigent & Element Z, Mr Switch, Spiritchaser, The Wideboys, Future Flex, Laurence Reed, Ashley Slater, Krafty Kuts, Soul of Man, Featurecast and Colin Dale amongst others.

It’s fair to say that any one of Tony SlackShot’s DJ sets include not only a wise and well informed track selection lending on both old and new but they also encompass huge technical abilities and a vast experience of years of studying crowds from behind the decks. This combined then blooms into something that you will only be able to define once you yourself have witnessed him playing.
