Reggaeton combines styles from Jamaica, Latin America, and the US. Its influences include reggae and dancehall, Latin American music such as salsa, merengue, cumbia, and bachata, and hip hop, R&B, and electronic dance music. Reggaeton got its start in Puerto Rico and rose in popularity in the '90s.
